WHAT IS Fertility Bodywork!?

Updated: Apr 4

What is the Arvigo Method/the Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy?

Rosita Arvigo, DN, was an advertising executive who quit her job and moved to Central America in the 1960s and lived and apprenticed amongst many traditional healers and medicine people there. In the 1994, she put her transmissions into a program of study now called the Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy.

It is a trademarked protocol of pelvic bodywork techniques, herbal remedies and a holistic healing modality that has been taught to hundreds of practitioners around the world. I’m one of them!

An Arvigo treatment is focused on bringing healing on the spiritual and physical levels to the pelvic bowl and the accompanying organs, ligaments, tissues and energy stored there.

I have been trained in this modality and have found that it flows into my work seamlessly. Never have I met a pregnant client who has not expressed interest or excitement about bodywork, especially that can help alleviate SPD, backaches, malpositioned babies, scar tissue remediation, healing postpartum, incontenence…etc. I have deeply enjoyed this new set of tools I can use to learn more about each body and baby I am working with, and have found that it provides invaluable information that a prenatal, or just a belly check, wouldn’t’ tell me. For example, for clients that have had injuries, car accidents, bone damage in the past, we have found tension and scar tissue in the pelvis during pregnancy, that has been shifted and dissolved with a few minutes of intentional bodywork. It is gratifying to be able to provide this hands-on help during my prenatal care and I don’t have to refer clients out to pay more or schedule with other practitioners.

A typical session with me is about an hour long. We begin by reviewing the health history of the person who is coming in for treatment. If there is something that is particularly bothersome at the moment, we begin by working there.

Arvigo treatment can help with : A Displaced uterus (prolapsed uterus, a “tilted” uterus…etc.), bladder infections, pregnancy discomfort, difficulty conceiving, recurrent miscarriages, fibroids, PCOS, endometriosis, headaches with menstruation, heels hurting while walking (a sign of pelvic imbalance!), PMS, vaginal infections, Low back pain, ovarian cysts…etc.

This modality will not cure or prevent any of these things overnight, but the intentional time spent with your body can, I believe, only help. I show clients methods for continuing the amazing benefits of this treatment at home and usually offer some herbs or flower essences for each client before leaving.

The healing potential is continued when clients come back and we can move deeper and with more confidence as we grow a relationship and understanding of your unique body and its needs.
